It’s concert time!

how we’re handling things coming out of the pandemic

Our space is cozy as you can tell by the picture above. To help with spacing, we are reducing the number of seats to 28. All of our artists who have booked shows are vaccinated (as are we) and are doing their best to stay healthy. We shall continue to follow CDC guidelines and depending on the number of cases in our area, we may mandate mask-wearing by all on the day of the show.

what’s a house concert and what should I expect?

Because this is our house and space is finite, seating is limited. In true house concert fashion, attendance is by invite only. This protects both the artist and us as homeowners. It also helps to build a community. If you aren’t already on our email invite list, simply reach out to us and introduce yourself. Most likely, we know a lot of folks in common or have met at other shows here in town.

Nothing makes us happier than to see a room of engaged people connecting with the music, and each other. Because of this, we have a strict policy of no phones, photos or recording of shows by our guests. We really want this to be a listening room. When you really can hear every note, you’ll be amazed at how it changes how you want to listen.

In order to attend a show, you must first receive an official email invite from us or through the artist. There will be a link within the email that you’ll use to reserve your seat. Everything is done in advance of showtime. While it may sound a bit cumbersome, it really does work and by securing all seats in advance, we can provide the artist a guarantee of an audience that is invested in the evening. It also helps us with headcount so we can ensure that everyone has a seat and space to enjoy a great night of music.

As curators of this series and hosts for our artists, we have made sure to put our focus on creating a space that is all about the artist and a community—a community that really likes music and is open to discovering something new. Together, we help shape and support original music. When you reserve your seat(s) for one of our shows, you are making a non-refundable* donation direct to the artist. None of the funds are channeled to us. If a third party website, such as Eventbrite, is used to facilitate the donation and RSVP process, any small fees associated with the transaction that are charged by the website are strictly for processing and use of the website. We think that is a fair deal.

Once we have received notification of your reservation, we’ll forward our address to you. We’ll also send a follow-up note a few days before the show to act as a reminder and tell you what time to arrive, where to park, etc. We’ll even provide our phone number should you need to reach us.

Most of our shows involve two sets with a “pie break” intermission. This is a great time to interact with the artist and other guests, chat about the show so far, ask a question or check out the merch table. Shows generally start at 7:30 p.m. and end by 10:30 p.m.

Guests are welcome to BYOB (alcohol okay if 21+). We offer complimentary waters, tea and coffee.

Each house venue has its “thing” to disclose and for us, it’s our cats, Otis and Maya. During show time, you will not see them (they hide the moment the sound system goes up!) and we always do a thorough cleaning prior to the show. We disclose this because we know some folks have an allergy or sensitivity to cats/animals and we want everyone to be comfortable and relaxed.

That’s about it. We think house concerts are a great way to take in music and we hope you try one soon—either with us or with any of the other hosts across the country. If you have any questions, please reach out. We’re always happy to fill in the gaps.

*We will refund in the event of a show cancellation. If you are unable to attend a show, please let us know in advance. We may have a waitlist and can help with some ticket reassignment magic.
